Travel & Stay
Just a 20-minute ferry ride from our Seattle neighborhood, Vashon Island is a magical escape from the city & favorite place of ours we can’t wait to share with you.
Vashon Ferry 101
-
Just minutes from Seattle, Vashon Island can be accessed by two ferry lines. The first leaves from the Fauntleroy Ferry Terminal in West Seattle, which is a 20-minute drive from the Sea-Tac Airport. The second ferry line leaves from Tacoma at the Point Defiance terminal, convenient for those driving up from the Portland area. Both ferry lines have a 15-20 minute crossing time and neither require reservations. To take the ferry, you simply arrive at the terminal prior to your desired sailing departure time, purchase a round-trip ticket at the toll booth and board. We recomend arriving for your sailing departure time about 20 minutes early. Both ferry lines accept both walk-on passengers & vehicles.

Did you know Seattle is home to the world’s second-largest ferry network? It’s an essential part of what makes our city so special. When planning your trip, you can reference the following links to see which ferry boat you plan on taking to the island — If you aren't staying on the island & plan on taking a ferry to the wedding on the day of, we recommend taking a ferry by 1:00 PM or earlier.

Passager tickets are $6.50 for adults, and vehicles are $17.90.
For those traveling to celebrate with us, we recommend staying on the island so you can fully enjoy Vashon. A popular escape, the island has a small-town feeling with lush rolling hills, several wineries, and a main street that boasts a handful of incredible restaurants (a guide to our favorites is coming soon!). Given the island’s more rural nature, there are no large hotels, but many idyllic vacation rentals which we have compiled for our guests at the links below.
Should you choose to stay off the island, the many hotels in downtown Seattle & near the Sea-Tac airport are within easy driving distance of the Fauntleroy Ferry terminal.
